The full extraordinary details of International Development Humza Yousaf ’s mission to the Gulf state can be revealed today.
He failed to mention the slave conditions of migrant workers working on construction projects for the 2022 World Cup, as he appealed for funding for a string of high-cost projects.
Yousaf was told by officials to highlight a shopping list of multi-million pound “investment opportunities” during the trip in May 2013.
They included £415million for M8, M73 and M74 motorway improvements and £450million for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Road."

"But his rise to the top has not been without its hiccups. In 2005, whilst working for Scotland’s first Muslim MSP, he was rejected as a candidate. The selection process was reported on by the Scottish Herald because of allegations of vote rigging and the signing up of fake voters. In the end the allegations were thrown out, but the debacle delayed Yousaf’s entry into parliament by one full term.
He was also embroiled in a financial scandal after his cousin Osama Saeed – a former Muslim Brotherhood spokesman – was awarded £400,000 for a Muslim festival entitled “IslamExpo”. In the end no festival took place and the staff working on the project were reported to have mainly been members of his own family. In the end Saeed repaid £128,000 of the money that was awarded to him. As a director of the foundation the debacle undoubtedly caused Yousef public embarrassment but he did stick by his cousin.
Furthermore, the Scottish Herald reported on what became known as a “lunchgate” scandal, where Saeed and Yousaf collaborated to fundraise on the back of cash for access. It said at the time:
“…an amateur recording of the night obtained by the Sunday Herald reveals a tawdry hustling for cash as Salmond and Sturgeon laughed and clapped just a few feet away. At one point, Salmond was seen handling a cheque for £500.
“The tape will add to the criticism that the pair offered access to parliament and ministerial time in return for a large donation to SNP funds.“The auctioneer was Humza Yousaf, who works for both Salmond and Sturgeon at Holyrood."

A SECOND SNP councillor in North Lanarkshire has spoken to the police about alleged corruption by colleagues, the Sunday Herald can reveal.
The man, who has asked not be named for fear of reprisals, spent more than three hours at Motherwell police station last week.
He was asked to attend as a potential witness rather than a suspect, and discussed a series of recent planning deals in the region.
It is understood the police’s Counter Corruption Unit (CCU), which tackles corruption in public life, was involved in the process.
Last month it emerged that North Lanarkshire councillor Julie McAnulty had spoken to the CCU, based at Fettes in Edinburgh, for seven hours about alleged criminality in the SNP.
It was reported that she had made allegations of illegal payments over planning applications.
McAnulty is a key figure in the row over the so-called Monklands McMafia, the SNP faction accused of running the Lanarkshire party like a fiefdom and ruthlessly shutting down critics.
Central Scotland MSP Richard Lyle, the Holyrood candidate in Uddingston & Bellshill, has been the subject of numerous complaints to SNP HQ about his conduct in the McMafia row.
McAnulty, who crossed Lyle by standing against him for the Uddingston & Bellshill candidacy, was suspended after one of the MSP’s employees claimed she had made a racist remark.
Her supporters say she is the victim of a smear campaign.
The other faction in the Lanarkshire SNP is linked to new Coatbridge MP Phil Boswell.
The SNP last month suspended its Coatbridge & Chryston association because of infighting.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: Concerns have been raised with the police and this matter is currently under review”.

"The MSP for Midlothian North and Musselburgh has lodged a motion for debate on the fate of Toblerone lovers, after the Swiss chocolate maker changed the shape of its iconic bars.
The motion urges the Scottish Parliament to note with concern the recent decision “to widen the gaps between the segments of the iconic Swiss chocolate bar, Toblerone” and “offer its condolences to those mourning this change in the bar”.
Beattie told The Staggers: “I like Toblerone, and I like it how it is traditional, with its nice, tight triangular pieces.
“Now they have changed it. Clearly it is a matter of international importance that it has happened and it is obviously a by-product of Brexit.”

Dennis Robertson SNP MSP Aberdeenshire West says "Oil Industry is Booming"

Dennis Robertson (Aberdeen West) made the comment during a Holyrood debate, where he said the North Sea workforce was "booming".

Oil and Gas UK has estimated that 65, 000 jobs have been lost  already during the current downturn in the industry.
Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale said Mr Robertson's constituents would find his claims "astonishing".
Mr Robertson made an intervention after Ms Dugdale referred to a "crisis" in employment in the North Sea oil and gas sector.
The SNP MSP said: "There is no crisis. We have just actually extracted more oil than ever before in the North Sea. We have the most skilled workforce in the North Sea and it is booming."

'Breathtaking complacency'

Ms Dugdale responded: "I think the member's constituents will find that an absolutely astonishing remark, as will the 50,000 people directly employed by the oil industry in Aberdeen and the 50,000 people indirectly related to it in the surrounding areas. That truly is an astonishing remark to start this year."

North East Scotland MSP and former Aberdeen Central representative Lewis Macdonald added that Mr Robertson's comments "show that the SNP remain in complete and utter denial about the oil jobs crisis".
Lib Dem representative Alison McInnes described the comment as "a breathtaking display of complacency".
She said: "We were warned last year that 65,000 oil and gas jobs have already been lost and contractors are predicting further redundancies. This is an employment crisis by any definition of the word."
Conservative MSP Alex Johnstone added: "Dennis Robertson's remarks are deeply alarming and show he is clearly out of touch with what has been going on in the oil and gas industry.
"His remarks are wildly inaccurate and offensive to those who rely on the oil industry for their jobs and livelihoods."
The industry has struggled due to a sharp decline in the price of oil, with a barrel now costing less than $40 - just over one third of the price 18 months ago.
